Clinical Study of the Spine Injuries


Abstract
The spinal injuries were reported by relatively low incidence than other fracture and dislocation in the body. However, the rate of spine injury tend to increase year by year as the rate of traffic accident and industrial accident have been increased.
Author have exparienced 332 cases of varous type of injuries of spine from Jan, 1968 to July 1976. They were analysed as follow.
1. Out of 268 patient, males were 187 cases(70%) and female 81(300,10, among them 74.6% of cases were between 20 to 40 years of age. About 38. 1%of cases of the spinal injury were caused by industrial accident.
2. The most common fracture site in the spinal segment were berween 12th thoracic spine and 2nd lumbarspine(63.4%) and most common types of spine injury was simple wedge fracture (72.4%).
3. 26 cases(9.6%)were complicated by paraplegia.
